Pacific Northwest Multicultural Community Center
Academy of Art University, MFA, Fall 2020
The Pacific North West Multicultural Community Center is expected to be a haven and communal gathering space for recent immigrants and refugees from countries outside the U.S. This new building will be on NE 60th Ave. and NE Holiday Street. It is close to public transportation, making it available and accessible to more people. The Community center will have four residential units that will assist families and let them settle down and find their place in the U.S. Additionally; there will be a coffee shop on the first floor of the community center. It will be open to the public. This will generate exposure to PNWMC and allow community center members to socialize with the neighbors in the area. The design for the community center is vibrant, industrial, and embraces many cultures. While in the residential units, the pallet was kept clean and muted so that home could feel like a haven.
